Background and Current Scope of Practice

Alexis Okonkwo is an associate attorney in the Houston office of Walters Balido & Crain, where she defends individuals and companies in a range of civil litigation matters, including personal injury, premises liability, and insurance-related claims. Alexis brings a unique and creative perspective to her legal practice, blending sharp litigation skills with a background in graphic design to deliver thoughtfully crafted arguments with an eye for detail and flow.

Before entering the legal profession, Alexis earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design with a minor in Marketing and Advertising and worked professionally as a designer. Drawing from that foundation, she approaches each case as both a visual and narrative composition, translating complexity into advocacy that is clear, engaging, and effective.

She earned her J.D. from Thurgood Marshall School of Law, where she served as Senior Editor of Law Review, a Writing Advisor, and was crowned Miss Thurgood Marshall School of Law. Her practice has included a broad range of insurance defense and trial experience developed through roles at both boutique and national firms.

Outside of the courtroom, Alexis enjoys home décor, traveling, and trying new restaurants across Houston. She brings the same curiosity and attention to detail to her personal life that she brings to her legal work, always learning and always refining.
